D.C Area drum teachers?

Anybody know of any good drumset teachers in the Washington D.C area? I visit a friend there from time to time and there are no good teachers where I live. So if anyone knows somebody or can recommend a good teacher in that area let me know or it may be someone on this board?

you can hook up with steve fidyk for technical stuff. if you want a really heavy hang then go with tony martucci. tony is one of the baddest drummers around and if you are into straight ahead or latin stuff he is your man. if you just want some technique pointers and to walk with a bunch of transcription stuff then hook up with steve. if neither of these are what you are looking for then let me know i can give you some other options.

Fidyk can flat out play.

He gave me a copy of the US Army Blues/Jazz Esemble Big Band CD "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" & he rips on it. I've had the pleasure to share the stage w he & that band on 3 diff occasions over the yrs - two 1-offs [Timonium, AWA Crisfield, MD] & on one extended 1 wk gig in Columbus OH, where they did Weckl's Tower Of Inspiration [Master Plan], Hard-Wired, & also TOP/Garibaldi's Oakland Stroke.

There are also some other guys of whom Dennis Chambers used to talk up in the DC & Baltimore areas, sorry, I forget their names [img]frown.gif[/img] [img]redface.gif[/img] one or two of them play w gtrst Carl Filipiak...if I rem or find them I'll try to post later...I'm sure some of the other folks here will beat me to the punch...

thanks for the info. these guys sounds really good. I dont play with bands anymore just been shedding, really just need a good player to give me an assesment because i got laid off from work and cant get a job it seems. so i may give playin with some bands a try again. but really playing and practicing are two different things ive learned before and im really rusty!!!!!

Fuse, the current commander of the Army Blues (also a fine percussionist) is pictured in that military music school picture on my website. He's the guy standing on the far left, I'm the fourth guy over, standing in the back. Nice gig!

What about Sean Rickman? Doesn't he live in the DC area? Not sure if he teaches or not, but it might be worth looking into.

sean does live in dc. he actually gave a clinic last week in the area. not sure if sean is the man to assess your playing though. sean is a monster, but if you need your ass kicked go to fidyk.
